Medical Assistants perform both administrative and clinical duties in the physician offices. As they can work on both administrative and clinical side so their responsibilities changes according to the office they are working in. To become a medical assistant you can do a one year course to get the diploma or you can join medical assisting degree for 2 years. They learn most of the tasks on duty. A high school diploma or equivalent require for the entry. It is recommended that students should do internship or have to work voluntarily while they are studying. Medical assisting degree includes the course like medical law, accounting, ethics, record keeping, insurance processing, keyboarding, and some office practice knowledge. On the clinical side students will be covering pharmaceutical principle, first aid, anatomy, and physiology, clinical and diagnostic procedures. While taking admission in medical assisting degree student should check the institute’s accreditation.

Once you have the associate degree you can start working in a hospital or in a physician’s office there are no requirements of certification to start work but since there is competition and it becomes easy to find a job in well-known organization with high pay scale if you have a certification. Most of the employers also prefer the person with the certification. If you have certification then it will show that you are skilled in certain areas. If you want to become a CMA you can appear in an exam administrated by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) once you pass the exam you will be working as a CMA. You will be working either in hospitals or in physician’s office about 62 percent medical assistants are working in offices, 13 percent in private hospitals and 11 percent work in medical resource center’s offices.

There are great job opportunities for assistant medical officer and if you are CMA then you will be earning more than the medical assistant. On average, their salary starts form $23,700 to $39,570 annually and this is a good salary package against one.
